# When should I get an alignment after new tires?
## An alignment check is recommended every time you install new tires -- it protects your investment and ensures even tread wear from the start.
Getting an alignment check when you install new tires is one of the best ways to protect your investment. Here is when it matters most:
- **Any new tire installation:** Even if alignment was correct before, installing new tires is an ideal time to verify everything is set properly and start fresh
- **After a tire size change:** Changing to a different size can require alignment adjustments
- **If previous tires wore unevenly:** Uneven wear is almost always an alignment signal -- installing new tires without correcting the alignment will repeat the problem
- **After hitting a major pothole or curb:** These impacts can knock alignment out of spec
