Why are my tires rubbing after installation?

Tire rub after installation is usually caused by a tire size, wheel offset, or suspension height that does not provide enough clearance for your specific vehicle. Depending on the cause, options like trimming, a lift kit, or wheel spacers can often resolve the issue without having to return anything.

Tire rubbing after installation is almost always a tire size issue. Here is how to diagnose it:

  • Tire too wide or too tall for your vehicle: If you went larger than your factory tire size, the tire may contact the fender well, suspension, or inner liner -- especially at full steering lock or under suspension compression.
  • Staggered fitment mix-up: If your vehicle uses different front and rear tire sizes, having them reversed will cause rubbing on one end.
  • Wrong size for your specific trim: Some trims have different clearances. Verify the tire size is correct for your trim level.
